Our Valuation team has extensive experience across a wide range of property types including commercial, industrial and residential.

JANET HAWKES B. App Sc; MBA has been with Gaetjens for 15 years and specialises in valuing residential, commercial, retail and industrial properties for various purposes including sale or purchase, family law property settlements, deceased estates, financial reporting, rent reviews etc.

Janet has experience in giving expert evidence in Court cases and frequently carries out valuations by appointment of the President of the Australian Property Institute for rental determinations under leases.

Her tertiary qualifications include Bachelor of Applied Science (Valuation) and Master of Business Administration.

Janet has been an Associate member of the Australian Property Institute for over thirty years. Her involvement with the Institute includes:
Completion of the annual Continuing Professional Development requirements.

Member of the Australian Property Institute’s Professional Interview Panel which deals with membership advancements to Associate level and Certified Practising Valuer status.

Member of the Australian Property Institute’s Divisional Complaints Panel dealing with complaints against members of the Institute.

Member since 2000 of the State Government Valuation Review Panel which determines objections against rating and taxing valuations.

South Australia South Road upgrade


What happens if my home or business is subject to compulsory acquisition?

On 14 May 2013, the South Australian Government announced that it would be acquiring up to 15 businesses and 120 houses for the purpose of upgrading South Road between Torrens Road at Croydon and Brickworks Markets at Hindmarsh.

As the owner of any land or a business on land which is to be compulsorily acquired, you can seek legal and valuation advice and the Government Department acquiring the land is required to pay your legal and valuation costs.
